Large-Scale Mixed Reality Demos at MS Build

In early May 2017, ten Finger Food team members from across the company travelled down to Seattle, WA to attend the Microsoft Build Developer Conference and present a large-scale mixed reality demo: our Kenworth T-680 design review tool. What started as a dream in the second half of 2016, became an exciting reality as we worked with Microsoft to bring in a Kenworth T-680 truck onto the centre of the Washington State Convention Centre floor.

The truck arrived on the evening of May 5th, when the facility was abuzz with setup and logistical crews. We worked with our partners at PACCAR to drive the truck onto the floor, carefully navigating our way around bolts and cables, and into our designated space on the show floor. The majority of the convention space was set up around the truck!

The queue was never empty and reactions were priceless from a “1000 wows” to smiles, laughter and minds expanded.

We loved showing our demo and discussing the present and future of what is possible for Mixed Reality with guests ranging from developers and designers, CEOs, industry leaders and change makers. We even got to share our demo with Cirque Du Soleil!

And speaking of Cirque, our holographic set design tool was demoed on stage during the Day 2 Keynote with Alex Kipman by the Cirque Du Soleil team. Needless to say, MS Build 2017 was a great success for Finger Food and we had an amazing time. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth and to Microsoft for working with us to make this happen. See you next year!
